The short notice announcement that the Sounders will be hosting a play-off game Wednesday night, 11/2, at CenturyLink has put the 32nd Annual Seattle Stand-Up Comedy Competition in a bit of a tizzy, the reason being that the event will have to move from its intended opening night at the Comedy Underground in Pioneer Square, and Annex Theatre will be the beneficiary.
“We know soccer fans are going to be flooding into the area and into the Comedy Underground itself so there’s just no way for us to do a show there that night,” advised Executive Producer Jonathan Fox, “We are very grateful that Annex has agreed to take us in during our hour of need and, believe me, Capitol Hill is going to suddenly be receiving the best comedy show presented in that area of town all year.”
2011 Comedy Competition Runner-Up Billy Wayne Davis will be on hand to host. He’ll be presenting 16 outstanding comedians from throughout the country who have arrived in the hopes of winning a $5,000 grand prize or at least sharing in the $15,000 worth of total prize money.
Showtime will be 8 p.m. at Annex. Tickets will be $15 in advance or $20 at the door.
