DO YOU NEED SPACE TO RESPOND TO THE HORRIFIC NEWS THAT DONALD TRUMP IS THE PRESIDENT-ELECT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA? ANNEX THEATRE IS SEEKING ARTISTIC AND COMMUNITY-SUPPORTED RESPONSES TO THE ELECTION. ARE YOU THINKING…
Seattle needs a cathartic femme-identified dance off NOW.
Where can I host my Fuck White Supremacy variety show?
I want to facilitate space for survivors of sexual assault.
There is a performance in my artistic womb that needs to be on stage!
My coven could cast a spell to stop Trump, if only we had the space…
Annex Theatre is accepting proposals immediately to create safe space for those flinching from the election results and for those ready to punch back! Dates available between 11/20/16 and 12/11/16.
FIRST SUBMISSION DEADLINE THIS THURSDAY 11/17 with rolling deadlines until 11/28
All proposals are welcome! Priority will be given to voices and bodies of vulnerable people and those targeted by the incoming regime.
Annex can provide:
• Our space for free (details below)! A 99 seat fringe theatre in the heart of Capitol Hill
• Tech: sound board, stage lights, projector, music stands, acting blocks, folding chairs • On-site staff member
• Pay-what-you-can box office
• Lobby and bar with cheap drinks as always
- We need to know:
Who are you? What is your relationship with Annex (if any)?
Are you a performer, counselor, activist, comedian, etc? Do we know you? - What is your response? How will you use the space?
“I will host an hour of open screaming” or “A Fuck Rape Culture Comedy
Showcase” for example - What is your desired outcome? Who are your intended audience/participants?
e.g. safe space for sexual assault survivors, performance for everyone, discussion for trans* people - Logistical needs: Tech, requested dates, special needs, drink sales?
We can fulfill most light/sound/video needs and provide a bartender. Follow link to see available dates.

THE FINE PRINT
Available dates:
Our space is available on these dates for performances/events that start at 7:30 pm. We could possibly make our space available in the daytime, but it is dependent on staff availability.
Sunday 11/20, Monday 11/21, Tuesday 11/22, Wednesday 11/23, Friday 11/25, Saturday 11/26, Sunday 11/27, Monday 11/28, Friday 12/2, Saturday 12/3, Friday 12/9, Saturday 12/10, Sunday 12/11
How the box office will work:
Annex Theatre will provide a volunteer to run box office to track PWYC admissions and donations at the door. Instead of charging a rental fee, Annex will keep the first $250 (or $350 if the bar is closed) of the performance’s box office. Anything in excess of that we will donate to the ACLU of Washington, or another qualified nonprofit of your choice, in your name (or in the name of Trump’s VP Mike Pence, in the hope that, in some small way, it will annoy him).
Rolling deadlines!

What kind of submissions will you pick?
We are mostly interested in encouraging artists to perform in response to events, ideally to help create or develop ideas you will pursue in the coming year.
We are offering a place for people to perform in response to events, to help people deal with the here-and-now, and to meet others who want to talk and possibly collaborate.
If you feel our space would be a good place for people to gather, to perform, and to respond with others, we also want to provide that space. Ultimately, we want to use Annex to do what it does best. We aim to be a resource to encourage relevant art when the artists are at their most vulnerable: when they most need the encouragement and the freedom to imagine what might be, and how it might come to pass.
