Blue to Blue
Written by Christine Deavel
Directed by Alison Kozar & Rowan Gallagher
March 21 – April 12, 2025
What do you do when your mother dies, your father decides to mail you box after random box of her things, and Emily Dickinson poems begin appearing in everyone’s pockets? If you’re Beryl, you head to your job at the coffin-making shop and look for guidance from the two-person Greek chorus that now accompanies your changed life. Unfolding over three days in the 1990s and set in the ancient neighborhood of grief, Blue to Blue presents the timeless search for solace after loss and the unexpected ways it arrives.

Carrie Schnelker – Marl
This is my first show with Annex, and I couldn’t be happier! I’ve now been upstaged by a cat in The Flight Before Xmas, laid down the law in Romeo & Juliet, sported yellow stockings in Twelfth Night, shredded flowers in The Seagull, wrestled with demons in Ghosts, and conjured elements in The Tempest. I’ve been a Mommy Dearest, a Karen, a kook and a crank, a mother and a lover, noble men and women, and now Marl! A big shout out to our cast and crew, and my spouse and friends. Thank you all for coming! carrieschnelker.com

Ken Kavin is honored to be making his Annex Theatre debut and is grateful to inhabit the mystical worlds imagined by the production team. In his clinical role, Ken is dedicated to improving representation and access in pediatric care, focusing on culturally tailored approaches to digital mental health interventions. Outside the lab, he finds deep fulfillment in the healing power of play and storytelling, sparked by childhood battles with dinosaur figurines. “I’m constantly terrified, yet it feels like coming home,” he says.
Love to Mom, Dad, and Aunties, and their messy, chaotic, enduring, beautiful stories.
